Endodontics (牙体牙髓病科): This department specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the dental pulp and tooth root. Utilizing advanced root canal treatments, the department aims to save severely damaged teeth with a high success rate. Common conditions treated include dental caries, pulp diseases, and tooth sensitivity. Patients can seek care at the Endodontics department located on the 3rd floor, or in the comprehensive, special, preventive, and emergency clinics where endodontic services are also offered.

Periodontics (牙周病科): The Periodontics department focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal (gum) diseases. It offers comprehensive periodontal care, including scaling, root planing, and various periodontal surgeries, to maintain the health of teeth-supporting tissues. This department is equipped to handle issues such as gum bleeding, bad breath, and loose or shifting teeth. Located on the 5th floor, periodontal services are also available in specialized comprehensive clinics. The First Clinic's Periodontics department, for example, excels in treating severe periodontitis, performing tissue regeneration surgeries, and managing cases involving tooth loss and bone augmentation, emphasizing standardized and professional care.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (口腔颌面外科): This department performs a wide range of surgical procedures involving the mouth, jaws, face, and neck, from routine tooth extractions to complex maxillofacial reconstructive surgeries, demonstrating a high level of expertise. Established in 1955, it is recognized as one of China's earliest, largest, and most comprehensively staffed oral and maxillofacial surgery departments. Key areas of treatment include maxillofacial tumors, trauma, cleft lip and palate, orthognathic surgery, and laser treatment for vascular lesions. The department is subdivided into specialized units such as Oncology, Orthognathic Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Trauma, Alveolar Surgery, and Laser Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery. With 29 treatment chairs, 180 hospital beds, and 8 dedicated operating rooms, the department handles over 86,000 outpatient visits and more than 6,700 inpatient admissions and surgeries annually. It is also a National Clinical Key Specialty and a training base for international associations.

Prosthodontics (口腔修复科): Specializing in restoring missing teeth and oral structures, this department provides diverse prosthetic options like dentures, crowns, and bridges to enhance chewing function and aesthetic appearance. It holds a long-standing history, being one of the first departments in China authorized to grant doctoral and master's degrees in this field. Recognized as a National Clinical Key Specialty project in 2011, its medical, teaching, and research capabilities are leading nationwide. The team consists of highly qualified professionals, with over 80% holding doctoral degrees and more than half having international study experience. The department was among the first in China to introduce and master advanced restorative techniques such as all-ceramic restorations, digital dentistry (CAD/CAM), and implant prostheses. Orthodontics (口腔正畸科): The Orthodontics department focuses on correcting tooth and jaw misalignments using advanced orthodontic techniques like braces and aligners to help patients achieve proper occlusion and a more attractive smile. Founded in 1949, it is one of China's most established, comprehensive, and high-volume specialized orthodontic departments. Its clinical, teaching, and research achievements are nationally recognized, and it was designated a National Clinical Key Specialty project for 2016-2018. The department boasts a highly qualified team, with 92% of its physicians holding doctoral degrees and most having international study experience. PKUDH's Orthodontics department pioneered various treatments in China, including orthognathic surgery, orthodontic treatment for cleft lip/palate, and sleep apnea, and was among the first to adopt implant anchorage, transmission orthodontics, lingual orthodontics, and clear aligner technologies. Pediatric Dentistry (儿童口腔科): Dedicated to children's oral health, this department offers preventive care, treatment for dental caries, and early orthodontic intervention with a child-friendly approach. Founded in 1948, it is one of the oldest and most comprehensively equipped, largest, and strongest pediatric dentistry departments in China, featuring 47 dental units and 5 operating rooms for general anesthesia. The department's highly skilled team includes 120 medical and nursing staff, with over 60% of doctors having international experience. PKUDH's Pediatric Dentistry department leads the nation in areas such as vital pulp therapy and pulp regeneration for young permanent teeth, standardized treatment for early childhood caries, and sequential management of complex dental trauma. It performed the first pediatric dental treatment under general anesthesia in China in 1999 and performs over a thousand general anesthesia and sedation cases annually, leading the country.

Oral Medicine (口腔黏膜病科): This department specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the oral mucosa, including conditions such as ulcers, lichen planus, and oral candidiasis. It provides specialized treatments to alleviate symptoms and improve patients' oral comfort. Patients can visit the Oral Medicine department on the 8th floor or the comprehensive clinic (Comprehensive Clinic II) on the 6th floor.

Oral Implantology (口腔种植科): PKUDH's Oral Implantology department is expert in dental implant procedures, utilizing state-of-the-art implant systems to replace missing teeth, offering patients reliable and long-term tooth-replacement options. Established in 1997, it was one of the earliest implantology departments in China. Since 1998, it pioneered and standardized various bone augmentation techniques, and since 2008, it led in the "All-on-4" technique for edentulous patients, allowing same-day implant placement and fixed restoration. The department also introduced immediate implant and aesthetic restoration for anterior teeth in 2009. With over 30,000 dental implant restorations completed, it boasts a 10-year survival rate of 96.7%, meeting international standards. The department is equipped with a 3D Cone Beam CT, dedicated operating rooms, and an advanced in-house dental laboratory. Please note that all implantology services are self-pay.

Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (口腔颌面医学影像科): This department plays a crucial role in diagnosis and treatment planning by utilizing advanced imaging techniques such as X-ray, CT, and MRI. It provides essential imaging information to assist in accurately diagnosing oral and maxillofacial diseases. Additionally, it offers expert consultations for conditions like purulent parotitis and benign salivary gland diseases.
