Orthopaedics (骨科): Beijing Jishuitan Hospital is renowned for its orthopaedics department, which has consistently ranked first in China for 13 years by the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University. It is also the sole orthopaedic specialist training center in mainland China to have received joint certification from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Hong Kong College of Orthopedic Surgeons. The department covers a broad spectrum of sub-specialties, offering comprehensive treatments for various bone and joint diseases. Burn Surgery (烧伤科): Recognized as one of the largest burn centers in China, this department is equipped with advanced technology and highly experienced medical professionals capable of handling complex burn surgeries and providing high-quality burn treatment. Historically, it has made significant contributions to burn management, including saving a steel worker with 89% total body surface area (TBSA) burns in 1958 and 10 patients with over 90% TBSA burns (70% full-thickness) in 1971, marking a milestone in China's burn injury treatment. The department pioneered the "rule of nine or ten" for estimating burn areas and developed techniques like extensive excision with allogeneic skin grafts combined with tiny autologous skin transplantation. Research in this department has delved into the pathophysiology of burn trauma, focusing on areas such as burn shock, myocardial dysfunction, gastrointestinal issues, infection control, and metabolic disturbances, leading to advancements like new dietary formulas and the importance of early extensive escharectomy.

Sports Medicine (运动医学科): This department specializes in treating sports-related injuries across various joints, including the knee, shoulder, elbow, hip, and ankle. It performs arthroscopic procedures, open surgeries, and comprehensive sports injury rehabilitation, with some of its techniques being internationally pioneering.

Trauma Orthopaedics (创伤骨科): The department excels in managing fractures and other traumatic orthopaedic injuries, providing timely and effective treatment aimed at restoring limb function. Notably, Beijing Jishuitan Hospital led the world's first telerobotic spinal surgery based on a 5G network. Hand Surgery (手外科): Established in 1959 by Professor Shu huan Wang, this was the first Department of Hand Surgery in China. Professor Wang pioneered microsurgical repair of vessels smaller than 1mm in 1963 and successfully applied the technique to clinical replantation of digits in 1965. The department is a nationally accredited advanced training center for hand surgeons, training over 80 fellows annually from both China and abroad. It performs over 30,000 hand procedures each year, covering hand trauma, microsurgery, wrist surgery, peripheral nerve and brachial plexus surgery, and congenital hand conditions. Its expertise in wrist surgery, both open and arthroscopic, holds a leading position in China and has a high international reputation. The department is also involved in advanced techniques like robot-assisted percutaneous scaphoid fracture fixation.
