Reports: General outpatient reports are issued in Chinese. International department reports may also default to Chinese, but you can typically request an English version. Confirm availability and turnaround time when taking your tests.
Do not fast, stop medication or change fluid intake unless the hospital or treating clinician has given instructions for your specific test.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before You Visit
Short answers to the practical questions international patients often ask when planning a visit.
Is this guide for every Huashan Hospital campus?
No. This guide covers Huashan Hospital’s Main Campus in Jing’an at 12 Middle Wulumuqi Road, Shanghai. Huashan operates several campuses, so check the campus name and address on your latest appointment or admission confirmation before travelling.
Which registration route should an international patient follow?
Follow the wording on your appointment or admission confirmation. If it names the International Medical Center or Worldwide Medical Service, go to the outpatient building and follow signs to 8F. For a general outpatient visit, use a staffed counter if registration is required and then continue to the assigned clinic floor. For admission, follow the building and ward stated on the admission notice. Do not assume that every foreign passport holder should use the International Medical Center.
Can foreign passport holders register at Huashan Hospital?
Foreign passport holders should bring the original passport used for the booking and keep any written appointment confirmation ready. If registration or identity verification is required, use a staffed hospital counter rather than assuming that a self-service machine will accept a passport. Check that the name and passport details on the confirmation are correct before travelling.
What is the easiest way to reach Huashan Hospital’s Main Campus?
Changshu Road Station on Metro Lines 1 and 7 is the nearest station, approximately an eight-minute walk from the hospital. Check the current exit and lift access in your map app before travelling. For a taxi or Didi, show the full Chinese destination—“华山医院总院,上海市静安区乌鲁木齐中路12号”—and confirm the outpatient drop-off point. Parking is limited, and nearby street parking should not be relied upon.
What should I confirm about payment and medical reports?
General outpatient clinics commonly use WeChat Pay, Alipay or RMB cash, so do not rely only on a foreign-issued Visa or Mastercard at the cashier. International departments may have different payment options, which should be confirmed before the visit. General outpatient reports are usually issued in Chinese; an English version may be available through the international department on request. If you need imaging files, ask specifically about the DICOM request process, format, cost and turnaround time.
USE OFFICIAL CHANNELS
Avoid unsolicited “fast-track” offers
Do not pay people approaching you near the hospital for faster tests, admission or private referrals. Verify instructions at an official hospital counter or through your confirmed coordinator.
Information & Review Policy
Hospital addresses, entrances, registration procedures, transport arrangements and payment systems may change. MedBridgeNZ reviews these guides periodically, but patients should confirm appointment-specific instructions directly with the hospital before travelling. This guide provides general administrative and travel information, not medical advice.
