CAMPUS & ENTRANCES
Find the right building before you arrive
The hospital name alone is not enough for a driver or map app.

Outpatient visits
Enter the outpatient building. If passport registration is incomplete, go to a 1F staffed counter first.
Emergency care
Follow the marked emergency entrance and on-site triage directions.
Hospital admission
Use the building, admission point and ward on your own admission notice; confirm any unclear details before travelling.
Taxi or Didi
Show the driver the full Chinese name and address of the Huangpu Main Campus, then confirm the outpatient drop-off point.

Keep any appointment confirmation ready
Use a staffed counter if registration is required

IMPORTANT:
Payment: General outpatient clinics use WeChat Pay, Alipay, or RMB cash. Do not rely on paying directly with a foreign-issued Visa or Mastercard at the cashier. International departments may accept foreign cards; confirm the options for your visit and check with your card issuer.
Reports: General outpatient reports are issued in Chinese. International department reports may also default to Chinese, but you can typically request an English version. Confirm availability and turnaround time when taking your tests.
Do not fast, stop medication or change fluid intake unless the hospital or treating clinician has given instructions for your specific test.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before You Visit
Short answers to the practical questions international patients often ask when planning a visit.
Can I visit the International Medical Department without an appointment?
No. Arrange an appointment before going to the International Medical Department. You can call 021-64678970, use its WeChat booking channel or ask a third party to help. Do not use the general outpatient registration counter for an international department appointment.
How can I arrange a general outpatient appointment if I have a foreign passport?
If you are still overseas, ask a medical concierge or someone you trust in Shanghai to check the hospital’s current requirements for booking on your behalf. If you are already in China, take your original passport to a staffed counter in the 1F outpatient hall to ask about registration and available appointments. Do not count on getting a same-day slot.
Should I report to 1F or B1 for an appointment in Building 10?
Follow the reporting location on your own appointment confirmation. Building 10 has international department services on both levels, but the first check-in point may depend on your appointment or insurance arrangements. If the confirmation is unclear, call the International Medical Department before travelling.
Can I pay with a foreign-issued Visa or Mastercard?
Do not rely on a foreign-issued card at the general outpatient cashier. Prepare another payment option, such as WeChat Pay, Alipay or RMB cash. The International Medical Department may accept foreign-issued cards, but confirm the cards accepted for your visit and check with your issuing bank beforehand.
Can I get an English report and DICOM images for my doctor at home?
General outpatient reports are usually issued in Chinese. If you are visiting the International Medical Department and need an English version, ask whether one is available for your specific report and how long it will take. For scans, tell the clinician or department that you need the complete DICOM imaging files, and confirm the request process, delivery format, cost and collection time. Do not assume an English report or DICOM copy will be issued automatically.
USE OFFICIAL CHANNELS
Avoid unsolicited “fast-track” offers
Do not pay people approaching you near the hospital for faster tests, admission or private referrals. Verify instructions at an official hospital counter or through your confirmed coordinator.
Information & Review Policy
Hospital addresses, entrances, registration procedures, transport arrangements and payment systems may change. MedBridgeNZ reviews these guides periodically, but patients should confirm appointment-specific instructions directly with the hospital before travelling. This guide provides general administrative and travel information, not medical advice.
